I read, or rather listened to, the Twilight saga and I’ll admit that I enjoyed them. It was more addictive than I wanted it to be, because I know it’s an embarrassing thing to like. Anyway, I saw the movie when it came out last Thursday and thought it was really well done. The books are so lame at times and I was worried with how that would translate to film, but it was a lot better than expected. Which is a nice relief. I feel like the movie improved the reputation of Twilight…in my eyes. Though with all the changes and rumours circulating about the next two films, I’m quite worried re: the quality and continuity. Hardwicke managed to capture the themes and atmosphere of the book perfectly, and I hardly think the director of American Pie will manage to do the same. It’s beyond me how the knobheads at Summit believe they could do any better by changing the director who obviously doesn’t need to be changed. The only minor complaints I had about the film was the way the title ‘Twilight’ appeared on screen and the sparkling skin of Edward. Which were probably more budget related anyway.
I’m going to move on. I’ve got a few holiday trips coming up in the next couple of months, which I’m really excited about. It’ll be nice to ‘get away’ and actually do holiday-esque things. Christmas is so soon as well! I cannot believe it. I’m going shopping tomorrow because I desperately need to buy all of my presents for people. I’ve run out of time! EEEk.
ETA: Oh also. I changed the header…In great anticipation for LOST!

What do you do when you’ve entertained every avenue of how to effectively make use of your holidays, and simply just do not know what to do anymore? You stay in your pyjamas all day and pick at the blood blister on your finger that you got from being way too good at drumming on Guitar Hero World Tour. I also have about six other blisters, three on my right ring finger alone. Is it still called the ‘ring’ finger on your right hand? Hmm. Anyway, those blisters are thankfully not filled with dried up blood. The blood one is quite old now and I’m hoping that it sort of just peels off like a fake mole, but it seems to want to stay. Luckily tomorrow is a new day. Rhymenocerous.
I’m feeling a little ill at the moment, after spending too much time reading Ricky Gervais’ blog. I think it is the combination of the bad lighting and my bad eyesight that really gets to me when reading off the screen. Which is why it is quite hard to watch anything with subtitles, that and the nuisance of not being able to eat plated food and read subtitles at the same time. Anyway, Ricky remains my hero. I ended up on his blog from watching youtube videos of Ricky, which originated from watching youtube videos of Tina Fey, which came from watching youtube videos of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, which came from googling Tina Fey Oprah. But what Oprah and I like to call a ‘full circle moment’ is when I found out from Gervais’ blog that Fey is in his next movie playing his assistant. There is also a huge cast, including Jason Bateman and Christopher Guest. But nothing could please me more than seeing pictures of Ricky and Tina armed with nurf guns having an epic shootout onset. One day I hope to lead a dangerous life like them.
Still battling away at the blood blister. The old skin has taken on this ’sheen’ appearance. Should I see a dermatologist, or scourge the Activision FAQ page. I’m sure I’m not alone on this.
I wonder if a Google Chrome home page has any tell-tale signs of the users character. There are nine spots for ‘Most Visited’ websites, featuring updated thumbnail screencaps of the website in question, which is actually pretty cool. Go Google. I feel a list is needed.
1. Facebook. Surprise, surprise.
2. Pureprofile. I have a thing for online surveys and earning small amounts of money from them.
3. My LJ. I really only use it to check on important communities, like tegan_n_sara.
4. Yahoo!7 Mail. Why is my email 4th? Obviously self-promotion, money, and tns are more important.
5. EZTV. I’m frankly shocked that this isn’t 1st.
6. Mininova. In case EZTV doesn’t have a torrent within 10 minutes of it airing.
7. Apple Movie Trailers. I love movie trailers. I feel like I should think of it as a career, being the narrator obviously.
8. YouTube. Meh, why not.
9. RewardsCentral. Again with the surveys equating tiny amounts of money. It’s a GFC, I have to scrape together what I CAN!
So I do believe it tells a lot about me. That’s me right there, wrapped into a neat little package. My love for TV scares me a little, that I think ‘love’ is too nice of a word to describe it. I don’t like to scare people though. I was bored the other night so I watched the 1st episode of Prison Break, just because I hadn’t really seen it from the start before and felt like a reminder of what went on. It was weird to see Linc with hair. But also interesting that his character hasn’t developed over 4 seasons. Then I proceeded to watch Veronica Mars from the start. Which was total win, Keith Mars is definitely my hero.
Oh and I bought Coldplay tickets today. A group of us will be going and I’m sure it’ll be great. I got floor tickets and hopefully this time round I’ll be able to see their faces, it might require hours of lining up, but I’m ok with that. Anyway, I better go because this isn’t helping my ill-like feeling, and I keep getting sidetracked by my blood blisters. Goodnight.

I finished uni for the year. HAHAHA. I beat you uni. I beat you. Unless the results come back and I failed everything, but whatever, highly unlikely. So now I have nearly 4 months of holidays, and I haven’t a clue what to do with myself. I kind of want to make a list of things I want to do and things I want to achieve in the break, but I’ll need to be quite specific about the things, otherwise it usually ends up not being done. Like “I want to make a movie” …4 years later. No movie. I know what I want to do in the immediate future though, buy the Twilight saga. Baha. I know, it’s trashy and a tad embarrassing, but I have fallen into the trap. Mostly because of the movie coming out, and my unabashed love for Kristen Stewart. It just looked really pretty and all of the people are pretty, so naturally I was interested.
Oh, I want to briefly talk about the hell I was in during the last week of uni. I cannot believe I got through it, and looking back, I am actually a little pleased with some of the work I created. Granted, a lot of it felt rushed and I mostly wanted the pain to stop and for it all to be done, but yeah. I am happy with parts. I didn’t sleep Wednesday night, which made me a bit delirious on Thursday, mostly just tired and cranky though. But I have to say, the relief after my final presentation was just AMAZING. I still feel wired though, like I shouldn’t be relaxing, that stuff still needs to get done. Hopefully that goes away soon. So anyway, went out with friends after for dinner and drinks which was really nice. And I had been looking forward to going home and watching some of my tv shows that I had to put-off watching, but was just so tired that I crashed straight away. Not even time for a shower. I slept from 1am to 5.15pm. HAHAHA. When I saw the time I was just like ‘…what..?’ So shocked that it was that late, and kind of embarrassed. But I needed it. Unfortunately, I’m not tired and it’s 2am and I fear that my body clock is going to be all messed up for a few days. Oh well.
I have forgotten what I wanted to write. I want to go away.
i will hang my head low

Oops, so I’ve already started to waver on the consistency of my blogging. Uni has just been too hectic recently, and the spare time that I do have, is usually spent trying to ‘make the most of it’, or working. Ha. Anyway, I have had a tiring week, with lots of things due and whatnot, and it’s not about to get any easier so I thought I would just quickly chuck up a blog admist all the chaos.
I’ve recently just started playing Dancing in the Dark on guitar, but not really following any of the ‘proper’ chords for it, and playing it a bit more minor than the original. It’s got a much more laid back rhythm and feel to it, it’s so fun. Haha. *Adds it to imaginary setlist*
The finale of Project Runway was AWESOME. And although I would have liked Jerrel to be in the final 3, instead of perhaps, Kenley or Korto, I was really enjoying the final collections. Leanne’s was hands-down the best of the 3, and she definitely deserved it. Other than the fact that it was crafted to perfection, and had an amazing aesthetic and ease about it as a whole, the fact that she’s very conscious about her impact on the environment and her ability to limit that using sustainable materials is awesome. Inspiring even. And it’s not some stint she did for the show, she’s been doing it for a long time and really seems to care about making a difference. YAY for Leannimal! But I’m so sad that there’s no more Project Runway
I guess Amazing Race, Survivor, America’s Next Top Model and Australian Idol will have to fill my reality TV quota…ok so I’m a bit of a reality TV nut. At least it’s the good ones!! (requires some level of skill!) And I love competitions. Haha.
Sigh. What should I do after the coming 3 weeks are over? What do I do with my almost 4 months of holiday? WHAT?!

Ha. Bruce Sprinsteen. A little while ago I downloaded a ‘best of’ album, which contains 3 CDs worth of Springsteen. The most I’d known of ‘The Boss’ was Hungry Heart, Dancing in the Dark and Human Touch, and I’ve been trying to culture myself by listening to blocks of Springsteen now and again. I like him, he’s a cool fella. I’ll admit that I checked him out for a really pathetic reason, because Tegan and Sara are constantly mentioning him and saying how he’s one of their musical idols. I had to investigate! Some of my favourites, besides the aforementioned, are Atlantic City, Jungleband, and Rosalita.
Anyway, I’m procrastinating from uni work. That of which I have to complete for the coming week. I have a paper to finish for Animation, which I’m doing on Robot Chicken which is actually pretty cool. I’m just lacking in the field of motivation to find the fun in writing about it in an academic manner. It has made me like Seth Green and the show more though. And the other bit of work I have to do is for Digital Photo Media, where I have to give a brief presentation on the progress of my image series. It’s not worth anything and it’s going to be very informal, but I still want to have something decent to show and not be ashamed when I have to stand up in front of the class and talk about what I’ve been doing. I created what seems to be the starting image of the series, and I’m quite happy with it, but who knows? I could hate it tomorrow. Oh well.
Just 4 more weeks. I can get through it. And then I’ll have to try and find a life to have during the holidays.
Well, I guess everything dies, baby, that’s a fact…
who’s fallen asleep at the disco?

I’m so BORED. Out of my mind. Well, I could be doing uni work..but so not in the mood. It’s 26 degrees and it’s 11:30PM. What the hell?
I got my haircut yesterday, which was fun. More weight was taken out, and now it looks more like Sara on the right and Tegan on the left. Ha. I can’t believe my 2 week break is coming to an end already, I don’t think I did a lot. Except work and doing nothing. Productive much? Oh, I went to the Zoo which wasn’t too bad and it was a really nice day. I think the highlights were the wombat jumping off a log and falling on its face, giraffes, red pandas and stealing callipos.
TV this week has been really good. Well, not House. I’m upset at House. Sure I got excited at first that Breckin Meyer was in the episode (ROBOT CHICKEN!!) but then it got too focused on Taub and blahbalh what the hell is this ‘CUDDY IS AMAZING’ shit? Vomits everywhere. Damn you Katie Jacobs, damn you. Why does she love lisa manlystein so much? It’s so beyond me.
What was a bit of a surprise this week was that parts of Gossip Girl were actually quite enjoyable. Moreso the Chuck parts. And I kind of want to see where they are going with Blair and Serena, even though Serena is being a bitch and I hate that they’re taking her character in that direction. Jenny should still die. And Rufus. And Dan. Basically the Humphrey’s suck. And I love how Nate wasn’t in that episode AT ALL. HAhaha. They realised that he’s getting BORING quite quickly. Man-whore…seriously?!?!?
TRUE BLOOD. Ahhhhhh-maze-ING.
Heroes. Hmmmmm, I like what they’re doing with Sylar and Claire. But am getting tired of Hiro really quick. Used to like him, and thought Ando and him were a funny duo, but now they’re just really tiresome. I’m a bit iffy that they have this new paints-future guy, just because they killed Isaac way to quickly. Was that even his name?? Anyway.
OMG SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. I loved the last episode so much, Summer Glau was amazing in it. Seriously. I knew it was going to be a really good episode because it was Cameron-centric, but I never imagined that it would be my favourite episode so far. I liked the structure of the episode, and the reveal of Allison and how Cameron came about. And also, “Allison Cameron”. Come on. I knew Rophy weren’t the only MASSIVE Dr. Allison Cameron fans!
But there are rumours that they are going to cancel the show soon, and if they do I will be so upset. I’ll punch so many people.

So I’m watching the DVD of The Con that Tegan and Sara released with their album, and I haven’t seen it for quite a while, so I’m loving it!! I’m only up to chapter 4 and I’m just remembering how awesome it is, and how they’re the funniest people (well..at least musicians!!) ever. They’re adorable, really. I can’t believe how different Tegan looks, when it’s only been just over a year or so, when they made this. Close to a year and a half I guess, but still! It’s crazy. She used to have ptosis for one, but also she’s lost weight and is looking more like Sara these days. Anyway.
I just wanted to rave about them, and reminisce about how I used to watch The Con movie every day for at least a week. It was definitely the catalyst that got me incredibly obsessed with Tegan and Sara, and made me more interested in who they are, instead of just liking their music. And the fact that Tegan quotes David Brent in the movie is nothing short of amazing.
Ah, I do love them. Also, True Blood ep 3 was amazing as well.
face me now.

I’m at work experience, procrastinating as per usual. I did do a little ‘work’ but that’s over now. Therefore, blog. After multiple sightings of ‘True Blood’ through facebook, LJ etc. I decided to hop on the bandwagon (before it became just plain pathetic following) and watch the show. To my surprise, my brother had already downloaded episodes 1 and 2. Bonus. I watched both last night, and I now have a new favourite TV show to add to the list! I was hooked immediately. I found it really interesting, and completely refreshing to the vampire genre. I’m pretty much in love with Vampire Bill already, and am feeling a strong need to ship sookie/bill rather violently.

UPLOAD FEATURE. Cool.
And pretty titles are always a good sign to me. Although they are somewhat disturbing, actually the show is rather disturbing in general. I strongly recommend this show to anyone.
Two new guilty pleasures are starting up again today, Ugly Betty and Survivor. People always laugh at me when I say that I’m a huge Survivor fan, and I really don’t know why. It’s quality entertainment, like most of the reality shows I watch. Entertainment being the key word. At least I want to gut everybody involved in the Big Brother shows across the world, that’s just rubbish. Anyhoo.
Doing Animation at uni has really developed my interest in film/motion graphics, and I know that is definitely the type of area I want to pursue for my career. In saying that, I’ve come to appreciate the traditional Disney movies a lot more than when I first saw them as a child. The extent of work that goes into every feature is phenomenal and the aesthetic simply cannot be matched. It was a pity when Disney stopped production on 2D films a few years ago, but they reopened with The Princess and The Frog due for a 2009 release. I’m beyond excited, and I just read that Oprah has joined the cast as the mother. I know I’m a pathetic Oprah fan, and it did make me a bit more excited for the film, but that’s not why I mention it. I think it’s a very smart move, as it’s blatantly a ’stunt’ to get the big names involved. So what? This is the film that marks the return of 2D traditional animation, and despite Disney changing management etc. etc. it still needs to pull in the money. Hire 5 Oprahs if you ask me. It’s not going to damage the movie, Oprah does good voice acting work, if anything it will enhance it. I want 2009 now, plzkthx.
Vote Oprah for president. She’s running, isn’t she?
break.

I’m currently on my 2 week mid-semester break. But I’ve still been working at Howards and also doing my work experience (for uni). I only have 2 days, Friday and Monday, left for work exp which is a relief. I’ve been ‘working’ at Marie Claire in their art dept. and it’s been good to see how it’s done in the real world. But more importantly, I learnt that I do not want to go into magazine design, or print/publishing. I enjoy doing it, and I assume that the practice will be prominent in any area of design, but that corporate vibe was somewhat unsettling. It really lacked the sense that design is forward, and design can bring forth change. I won’t go all philosophical on you, I’ll move on.
Uni is good, I’ve enjoyed the semester and I really cannot believe that my 3rd year is nearly over. After this break, I have 4 weeks left and then it’s a 3-month summer holiday all over again. That’s pretty crazy. I hope I come up with worthwhile ways to spend my time. Like watching TV shows. Ha.
TV IS BACK. Well, it never really left, but all of my main shows are returning. If you haven’t seen the latest episodes of every television show these shows, I strongly suggest you look away.
HOUSE
Felicia Day! Gawd, she’s slowly taking over the world isn’t she? One small tv show bit at a time! She was great in it, and it’s nice to see her on such a big show. I don’t know how I feel about the episode, I don’t know how I feel about House. I’ve lost the ability to say it’s a good episode if they don’t have Cameron in it. Most of the time I have a constant buzzing in the back of my head wishing that Cameron or Chase would appear onscreen. They always operate, so Chase always gets a smile. But Cameron? They’ve resorted to just having her name used so we know she’s still alive and kicking. It’s only episode 2, maybe I’m being too harsh. The ducklings and House made the show brilliant, their dynamic, their conversations and interactions. Now it just feels like they are trying to be too clever, always trying to shock and be OMGDRAMATIC. It all feels forced. Oh, I feel like a parent who has watched their child leave home, only to become a sad sad shell of its former self. Please come home my child. Please come home.
HEROES
Yes I still watch this show. Yes I am very confused as to what the hell is going on. I really should have watched the 00 episode, but I thought I would be ok. I was wrong. I do like what’s been happening though. They’re sticking to what made season 1 so good, the main cast and sylar. House could take a leaf, or just the whole book, from Heroes. Just that, they knew Heroes was wavering too far away from the core of the show in season 2, so they have returned to what was so intriguing about the show in the first place. Without becoming boring. Also, Kristen Bell and …Weevil (SORRY ACTOR!)!!! VM REUNION! I love the relationship between Claire/Peter, they have really good chemistry and even though it’s incestuous, I tend to turn a blind eye. OH ALSO, I want more interaction between Claire and Elle. Come on, we all do.
I could continue to talk about how Gossip Girl is taking an OC-esque dive, or how Summer Glau finding the centre of the house is adorable, but I’ll save that for another day. It’s early in the seasons of all shows, so I won’t be quick to judge. I’m also giving them some lee-way that there are still remnants of disaster from the writers strike.
I’m about to watch FRINGE now, and I’m looking forward to it. So far, I like the series, it’s pretty interesting. Very JJ Abrams, the crazy nut. I laughed when it started on a plane. Honestly. Something I found pretty cool, that you won’t, is that I knew the lead female wasn’t American (and awesomely enough, she’s Australian!) by the way she pronounced her words exactly like Lena in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It was uncanny. Perhaps they share the same speech coach? Hehe.
